What do I do about a chipped tooth?

by Dr. Adam Koplon

What do I do about a chipped tooth?

We are often don't treat our teeth the way they should be treated. Whether chewing on hard ice or candy, using our teeth to open packages, or even accidentally knocking our tooth, our teeth take a beating. No matter the situation, chipping or breaking your tooth is a bad feeling and one that leaves many patients self-conscious or in pain. In our office, we pride ourselves on our emergency care, and work to ensure that any patient with a chipped tooth or broken tooth gets the care they need as soon as they can.

If you or a family member have a chipped tooth, our team of Leeds, Alabama dentists can help fix you tooth and find the solution that best fits your needs. A few solutions below can be used to fix a chipped tooth.

  • Bonding: This is a simple procedure that fixes minor cosmetic chips. We put a small bit of composite resin on the site to correct the chip and restore your tooth to normal.
  • Crown: A crown is typically put on when you have a substantial crack or significant decay; this results from a chipped tooth or broken tooth. A crown can be made of porcelain or metal and will restore and protect your tooth from further decay or exposed nerves. This usually takes two appointments.
  • Dental Implant: In extreme but often common cases, the tooth is so badly broken or chipped that it must be removed and replaced with a dental implant. Whether its from extreme decay from a chipped tooth or from a tooth being completely knocked out, a dental implant looks and feel likes a natural tooth and is a perfect substitute.

Do you have a broken tooth or a chipped tooth? Call our office at 205-699-2551. We see patients from all over, including Leeds, Moody, Trussville, Pell City, Springville, Odenville, Sylacauga, Anniston, and beyond. Give us a call today! 205-699-2551.
