School is back in session and your children have everything they need for the school year such as backpacks, books, and pencils. Is their smile ready too?
Our team at Koplon Implant & Family Dentistry has a few tips to help make sure you and your family have a healthy smile on the back-to-school checklist that will take you through the rest of the fall season.
- Make brushing teeth a family affair - Its important for everyone in the family to brush and floss their teeth for at least 2 minutes, 2 times a day. Make it something the whole family does together after dinner to make sure kids and parents alike have a clean smile.
- Pack healthy snacks - Its tempting to pack candy, chips and sugary drinks for your children's lunch, but healthy snacks like nuts, fruit, veggies and water will keep your child's smile in check. Try to not pack gooey or sugary candy but rather, snacks like carrots, nuts, yogurt or string cheese!
- Wear a mouthguard - Fall is one of the most fun times of the year for children and teens. Sports are back, which means there's a greater potential for dental injury. Mouthguards will keep your child's smile safe from impact that may occur on the field.
- Schedule regular check-ups - When was the last time you and your child got your teeth cleaned? If its been before the summer started its important to have a good cleaning and check-up done during the fall.
