Toothache Relief

by Dr. Adam Koplon

We have patients ask us questions all the time, but we get variations of the following frequently: What causes a toothache? Why do my teeth hurt? What does a sore tooth mean? We have toothache relief solutions for you at Koplon Implant & Family Dentistry

The answer isn't always black and white, but most often, patients are experiencing a toothache for one of the following reasons:

  • Tooth Decay
  • Infection
  • Cracked Tooth
  • Ill-Fitting Dental Restoration
  • Grinding

How do I know what is the cause of my tooth pain?

A toothache could be a number of things, so if you are experiencing pain, you should come see our team as your earliest convenience for toothache relief. If left untreated, a toothache can only worsen and cause you more pain.

Once in our care, we will do a full oral examination to determine the cause of your pain, look for swelling, redness, tooth damage and more. We may even take x-rays as needed to determine if there are any visible decay, infection or cracks in your teeth.

Pending your diagnosis, over the counter antibiotics may be given, or further treatment like a root canal might be required.

Can I prevent a toothache?

Yes, you can! In order to ward off the potential for any toothaches, its imperative that you visit our office every 4 to 6 months for regular cleanings and exams. In addition, you must maintain good and regular oral hygiene, such as brushing twice daily and flossing.
